Having a ball

While waiting for Jayson to get home from work today, Eaen and I took his ball to the basketball/tennis court at our complex.  He was shootin' hoops and kickin' the ball all over that court!  I'm amazed at how accurate he is already!  We had a great time.  We definitely need to get out more often and find a shorter hoop!

Memorial Day

Since today is Jayson's only day off during the holiday weekend, we decided to go to the cemeteries today for Memorial Day.  Fortunately, after church it stopped raining and the sun even came out for a little bit.  We went to visit Grandpa Woodhave first.  Between the truck and Grandpa's grave, Eaen was saying "hi" to all of the headstones we passed.  When we got to Grandpa Woodhave's headstone, I told Eaen to say hi to his Great-Grandpa Woodhave.  He bent down and said "Hi Haha.  I wuv you."  Eaen has been calling my dad Haha.  It was very sweet.  Then he wanted to pull the flags out of the ground and march around.  Next, we walked over to the area where my Great-Grandma and Grandpa Woodhave are at in the cemetery.  I told Eaen about his relatives that were buried there: Great-Grandma & Grandpa Woodhave, Uncle Jack and the Burbidges.  Finally, we went to the cemetery where Grandpa Winn is buried and visited his grave too.  We told him how much we miss him.  Eaen was only five months old when he died.  It's hard to believe it will be two years in just a couple of weeks!  I am so grateful for all of my ancestors who have gone before us and created many opportunities available to us today.  We love and miss all of them!  I am especially grateful we are able to live close to their final resting places and have the opportunity to visit them often.

Locked Out

Tonight after dinner, Eaen was watching a movie on the couch and Titan needed to go to the bathroom.  It was raining out, so I didn't want to be outside long.  I decided to leave Eaen on the couch and take the dog out.  I walked to the bottom of the stairs (we live on the second floor of our complex), let Titan pee and went back up to our apartment.  When I got there, I was surprised to find the door was locked.  I thought it was fortunate that I had grabbed my keys prior to going outside.  I unlocked the door, but I could still not get in.  Our apartments have a second dead bolt lock for security.  It can only be locked and unlocked from inside the apartment.  Apparently Eaen is now tall enough to reach it and had locked both dead bolts when I left the apartment.  I knocked on the door and I could hear Eaen come to it.  I asked him to unlock the door for mommy, but I had no luck.  I reached for my phone to call for help, but to my disappointment, I had left it inside.  I begged and pleaded with Eaen to unlock the door.  Still no luck.  He kept saying "What?"  I went around to the glass door on the balcony to check on him.  He was playing in my purse where he found my camera.  When he saw me outside the door, he came running with the camera, like he was going to take my picture.  When I asked him to unlock the door, he told me "No."  I had knocked on the neighbor's door, but they weren't home.  I saw some people from the building across from us drive up, so I asked to borrow their phone.  We called the after hours maintenance number, but nobody answered.  I tried my dad and my brother and left a message when I didn't reach either of them.  Finally, my brother called back.  He was out to dinner, but close to us.  He left his dinner, went to my dad's where he got my dad's truck and a ladder, and came to save the day.  When he got here, he tried to get Eaen to unlock the door for him, but no luck.  Jake climbed up the ladder and in through the kitchen window, which was the only window open.  Eaen thought it was pretty funny.  He had found a sucker in my purse and was in heaven!  He was happy with his new found freedom and nobody to tell him "no".  I am so grateful he was okay and we were able to get in!  I now know we can never leave him inside alone for even a minute!

Potty Dance

Lately Eaen has been telling me he needs to go potty.  It's usually after he has already gone in his diaper.  He insists on stripping all of his clothes off and sitting on the toilet for awhile.  Then he gets up and flushes.  Today he got up from his nap and insisted on going potty.  We went to the bathroom, took off his clothes and diaper, and sat on the toilet.  He was on there longer than normal today when he heard an Aerosmith song on the TV in the background.  He said, "Oh dance," jumped off the toilet and proceeded to dance naked in the bathroom.  When the song ended he sat back on the toilet.  A little bit longer on the toilet and another song came on a commercial.  "Dance!" and the naked dancing in front of the toilet resumed.  He is such a character! : )  Still no actual potty in the toilet, just sitting.  One day....

Blessed

We are so blessed!  We have been fortunate in the last year with employment.  Just when school started to get a little hard, Jayson got a job with Larry H Miller Bountiful as a Lot Tech and I was able to quit my second job to focus more on school.  We also made some budget adjustments like cancelling our cable and cutting our grocery bill.  This past week, Jayson was given a promotion at work to Lot Manager effective June 1.  I am so proud of him!  It is a big accomplishment to be promoted in a short 6 months!  It is also getting into their busy season at work.  This weekend, they are having a tent sale.  These require everyone to work 12-15 hour days.  Although the days are long, and the new job comes with more responsibility and stress, we are so grateful for this opportunity and know we are BLESSED!

Family Pride Fire

We found out last night that Jayson's Uncle DJ's boat, Family Pride, caught on fire while it was having some welding done in the dry dock.  Jayson called his mom and she said the fire was pretty bad and the damage was extensive.  They were having the insurance adjust come out today for an estimate.  We got this picture from the Kodiak Daily Mirror's website today.
It's so sad to see such a tragedy.  DJ has put his whole life into this boat and the family business.  The boat belonged to Jayson's grandpa Don until he died.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them.  It makes you grateful for the things we have everyday and take for granted.

3 Years

Today is our 3 year wedding anniversary.  I can't believe it's really been 3 whole years since we said "I do"!  We have been through a lot in 3 years!  We have lived in 7 different apartments/houses in 5 different zip codes and 2 states.  Jayson has had 6 jobs.  I've had 4 jobs.  We've both gone to school.  We've been on 4 trips together (2 to AK, 1 to CA, and 1 through Canada).  We have 1 child (Eaen), 1 dog (Titan), and 2 dwarf frogs (Flatsom & Jetsam).  Jayson drives a Chevy Silverado.  I drive an Infiniti G35X.  Jayson has a Honda 450R.  We enjoy taking family walks to the park, watching movies, and spending time together.
We celebrated our anniversary with a night out on Saturday.  My dad took Eaen and Titan for the night.  We had dinner at Tucci's then settled in to the Presidential Suite at the Anniversary Inn where we watched "In the Line of Fire."  In the morning we had breakfast on our balcony.  It was very nice and relaxing!

Today, my mom took Eaen for the morning.  We had a nice breakfast then relaxed on the couch and watched "The Bourne Identity" before Jayson had to go to work.  Now it's time for me to study before class tonight.  Overall, a pretty good anniversary! : )

Mommy & Me Pedicures

So, I was out running errands today and I really wanted to get my first pedicure of the summer, but I didn't have anyone to watch Eaen.  Eventually he fell asleep in the car seat so I thought I could go get a pedicure and he would sleep in my lap.  Boy was I wrong.  As soon as I opened the door and walked into the salon, his head shot straight up and he was way too interested in this new adventure to go back to sleep.  There was nobody else in the salon, so the lady was kind enough to find cartoons on the tv.  Surprisingly Eaen was very well behaved and sat on my lap the entire time.  However, he thought he was there for a pedicure as well.  Halfway through, Eaen pulled off his socks and tried to put his feet in the water too.  When I was all done, he looked at my painted toes and said, "Oh cute!"

In the beginning, there was Eaen

We found out we were expecting on May 11, 2008, Mother's Day. : )  I can't think of a better day to get a positive pregnancy test!  My due date was January 12, 2009, it seemed so far away!  August 14, 2008, we found out we were having a boy!  We were both so excited, but Jayson could hardly contain himself.  He had to leave the ultrasound to go outside and starting calling everyone with the good news!
On January 11, 2009, I went into labor, but Eaen was a stubborn guy.  Eaen Tyler Vinberg was born on his due date, January 12, 2009 at 9:01 pm.  He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 21 1/4" long!

Our Eaen is doing everything! He climbs on anything and everything he can find.  He jumps on his bed, his chair, the couch and anywhere else he can catch some air!  He loves playing with his cars and balls.  He works hard with his tools.  He loves to read.  He knows almost all of the sounds of the letters of the alphabet.  He really likes playing with other kids!  His favorite phrase is "Oh cute!"
